Today’s book excerpt . . . “It is generally safe to take a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement that provides at least 100 percent of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA), especially for those individuals whose diet is very limited. However, it is even better to make sure that you eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day, 4 or more servings of whole grain breads, cereals, and whole grains such as brown rice and barley, and 2 servings of legumes and seeds or nuts.”
As a side note, in reference to supplements, you get what you pay for. Be cautious when purchasing supplements, especially on the internet, as many low cost products contain fillers and even though they may list a multitude of nutrients, the amounts of each are to low to benefit you. My recommendations are to shop locally at a health food store in your area. Most health food stores carry high quality supplements plus an assortment of organic foods which would better benefit any health regime.
